How to Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 to the Official Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich

How to Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 to the Official Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 was released back in the year 2013 with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and yet to receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or later android version. As the device already running on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, you can only expect few bug fixes and performance enhancement with this latest firmware update.

So, want to update your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 to the latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware? For official way, either you can go for  OTA (over the air) from Settings-About Tablet-Software Update or download firmware through the Samsung Kies utility. However, if you are looking for a manual way to update the latest Android 4.2.2 firmware on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 through Odin then follow the step by step.

As you know that XSG Android 4.0.4 is an official firmware for Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500 device. While installing firmware on whichever Android devices, users have to rely on flash tools like ODIN. The ODIN utility tool helps to swiftly install Firmware updates. Moving ahead to install XSG Android 4.0.4 firmware

People often tend to wander off to custom ROMs and root to add more features to the software. Well, that doesn’t always work out for everyone. Some may prefer the stability of the OEM software or its simplicity. But it might take some time before one realizes this. Anyhow, if you do wish to roll back to stock Samsung firmware, then the process is quite easy. All you need is your phone, a PC, USB cable, stock ROM, and the Odin flash tool.

Odin (commonly referred to as ‘Odin Downloader‘ or ‘Odin Flash Tool‘) is a tool for Samsung devices that allows you to flash the complete stock firmware on your Samsung Galaxy device with ease. The firmware flashing tool is allegedly used by Samsung internally for flashing and testing stock firmware on Galaxy phones. The manufacturer, however, never released the tool out for the end-user. It was rather leaked to the public over the internet. It is a simple standalone executable only available for Windows. It inputs the firmware files in form of .tar or .tar.md5 formats. For the tool to work, your Samsung device must be connected to the PC in Download Mode. That’s the basic methodology!

You may need to install firmware for your Samsung Galaxy devices for a variety of reasons. It could be as simple as you trying to update your device to a newer build or Android version, or it could be that you are looking to fix a soft-bricked device manually as firmware helps a lot when looking for a way to unbrick a device.

Please read in more details below as to how a firmware helps you solve different types of issues. And that includes downgrade too, as also going back to stock.

Disclaimer

Installing an official firmware through Odin doesn’t void your device’s warranty, but it remains an unofficial process and thus you need to be cautious of it. In any case, you only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.

  • Download or update Kies, part of which will install or update drivers.

Once drivers are installed or updated, it is highly recommended that you restart your computer.

Step 2: Download and extract the Stock ROM (Official/Original Firmware).

After downloading it (normally a compressed file), you need to extact/unzip it to certain location of your PC. The file types that Odin uses are *.bin,*.tar and *.tar.md5.

Step 3: Download and extract Odin on you PC.

You can download Odin3_v3.14.1.zip directly from download section below is a fine alternative, it also offers a download link. Or you can always Google "Odin download".
After downloading it on your PC, extract it to Desktop or another location you'd prefer.

  4. Press Volume Up key to enter Download mode, which has a green robot figure and “Downloading… Do not turn off target!!)

Step 5: Connect your device to PC.

You device should be automatically recognized by Odin. At the lower-left of Odin interface, it should show a message that says "Added!" and in the meantime you should see a light-blue box at the ID:COM section stating "COM:3" (the number depend on which USB port you have plugged the device cable and is irrelevant).

Step 6: Click "AP" to add tar.md5 file that you have extracted and then "Start".

Whether it is "PDA" or "AP" depends on the version of Odin that you used. But the md5 file goes to either "PDA" or "AP".

After adding the file, click "Start" to begin the flashing process.

WARNING :

DO NOT REMOVE OR OPERATE ON YOUR DEVICE UNTIL FINISHED OR FAILED IS SHOWED ON ODIN.

When the flashing process is done and if everything goes well, you should see a big green box saying "RESET" or "PASSED" (depends on the version of Odin is used). By now, the device should be rebooted and it is safe to remove/unplug your device.
